A fully-functional package of TimeMap software is freely available for download from this site, subject to licensing conditions specified below.
Types of licenseThere are three types of license available: - General Use License
- TimeMap Open Source Consortium license
- Open Source License (GNU GPL/LGPL) - available later this year
TimeMap is a research project, and as such it is our aim to encourage its use as widely as possible through no-cost or low-cost licensing. The aim of any such licensing is not to make a profit but to fund ongoing development and support of the software for the benefit of all users.
General Use LicenseTimeMap for Windows (TMWin) and the TimeMap Java mapping applet and server (TMJava) may be freely downloaded. By using TimeMap software, you agree to the TimeMap General User License, which allows for no-cost personal use, testing and demonstration. For any other applications you must either join the TimeMap Consortium or negotiate an individual use license with the TimeMap project team - please email Ian Johnson
TimeMap Open Source Consortium LicenseFor commercial and production use we ask organisations to support TimeMap development by joining the TimeMap Open Source Consortium (see under Community). Members receive an Extended Use License, extended support and assistance with application development, and access to nightly program builds and source code. Open Source LicenseTimeMap TMJava will be released as Open Source software later this year, under the GNU GPL and LGPL licenses.
