This is an expandable tree of available metadata elements. The panel lists different elements (and therefore appears differently) in each of the three Metadata Worksheets (dc., tm. and system). Clicking on the plus/minus sign will expand/contract the node, and double clicking any element will instantly add that element to the current metadata worksheet to the right.
