TimeMap Application Examples

This page highlights a couple of TimeMap application examples. Please visit the Features Showcase and TMJava Applciations pages to see soem of the range of applications which can be developed with TimeMap. We plan to showcase one or two recent examples on this page, and archive older examples, grouped by category, in the following pages.

Macquarie Atlas of Indigenous Australia

Launched on 26th March 2007, the Interactive Macqaurie Atlas of Indigenous Australia delivers the map data from the printed book (published 2006, with more than 250 full-colour maps developed by the Archaeological Computing Laboratory in collaboration with the editors) in a single interactive TimeMap. This is our msot compledx TimeMap applciations to date. This application illustrates our unique map layer handling, which (in this case) moves active map layers to the top of the legend, switches off less used layers to reduce clutter and selects shading on the fly to allow superimposition without blocking.

ECAI/Rumsey Clearinghouse Search

This application illustrates cross-collection spatial searching, overlaying of distributed digital data, automatic map construction, incremental detail on zoom-in, time filtering and on-the-fly generation of map animations.

Many more examples are illustrated in the following pages.
