On the left, a painted wooden Buddha image in the Burmese style. On
the right is an example of a "reclining Buddha". It represents Buddha at
the moment of his death, and thus his attainment of Nirvana. The relaxed,
head on hand posture is a conventional way of representing his peaceful
transition.
